Neighbour delves into the core of humanity, breaking down the boundaries between dance and physical theater, as well as black humor and poetic expression.
Combining dance, circus and physical theater, Neighbour depicts the coexistence of people in a housing estate. Performance, shaken from the world, is built on the absurd situations of everyday life that the housing estate's annual cycle creates. Neighbour explores the possibilities of empathy, the extremes of tolerance and the formation of rules - as well as those moments when the deviations of everyday life become normal.
Neighbour brings the viewer into the eye of a neighborhood that is delicious in its recognizability and its lovable and burdensome residents. Through the clash of values of the residents, painful perspectives on the social issues of our time are opened. The themes of the work are based on research on neighborhoods and suburbs, and the material used is authentic staircase messages written in housing associations.
